Walks Near Our Bed And Breakfast

Walking Near Crottys Lake & RockOur bed and breakfast is the ideal accommodation for anyone undertaking a walking holiday. In fact the Dungarvan Hillwalking Club meet in our function room on the first Tuesday of every month at 9pm. When you stay at the Tudor House you are only a short drive away from some of the best walking that Ireland has to offer. West Waterford offers the prospect of unrestricted walks along the breathtaking coast, in the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Mountains and along the valley trails of its many rivers.

In the Dungarvan & West Waterford book (available in most local shops price €2) and on www.dungarvantourism.com, there are details of various walks with associated maps and directions for the following:

  • Brickey River and Kilnafarna Hill walk (12km);
  • Colligan Wood, (6km)
  • Cruchan Walk (12km)
  • Famine Walk (4km)
  • Ardmore Cliff Walk visiting St Declan’s Well (3km)

In the Nire Valley area to the north of the county, the walker can explore the folklore, geology, flora and fauna on conducted Nire Valley Walks in the Comeragh Mountains. A Comeragh Mountain Walking Festival is held annually in October. The walks are graded and are led by very experienced guides.

The county also offers scenic walks along areas of outstanding natural beauty and the following are just some of those that are easily accessible to the public.

Riverside walks include the Glenshelane River Walk, a wilderness trek through spectacular scenery in the Knockmealdown Mountains at Cappoquin and the 8km long Kilmaloo Walk at Clashmore.
